The Simpsons crew is in grief following the death of longtime music editor Chris Ledesma at the age of 64 on December 16.
With a title card that read, “In loving remembrance of Chris Ledesma,” the program acknowledged Ledesma’s passing in a tribute at the conclusion of Sunday’s edition. There was no mention of a cause of death.
In honor of Ledesma’s life and career, an animated Ledesma clutching a conductor’s baton and lounging on the sofa with Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, and Bart was shown. Maggie and Bart experimented with various instruments under the guidance of a beaming Ledesma.
Since the show’s 1989 debut, Chris had contributed to every episode of the well-known animated sitcom. He continued to do so for 33 years, retiring in May 2022.
For all of The Simpsons’ episodes from 1989 until season 33, Chris served as the show’s music editor. He left the program last year because of health issues.
For his work on the show’s Wild Barts Can’t Be Broken, the eleventh episode of the tenth season, Ledesma was also nominated for a Golden Reel Award.
